Verify that there are not any power or ground concerns before replacing the K20 ECM.<\/p>\n<p>A high number of ECMs with no trouble found have been replaced on vehicles equipped with the 5.3L V8 engine (RPO L83) and 1.5 4-cylinder engine (RPO LFV). (Fig. 18)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10459\" src=\"https:\/\/sandyblogs.com\/techlink\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/F18-ecm-LFV.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/F18-ecm-LFV.jpg 600w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/F18-ecm-LFV-300x288.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><strong>Fig. 18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following ECM DTCs may be set:<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P0601 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Read Only Memory Performance<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P0602 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Not Programmed<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P0603 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Long Term Memory Reset<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P0604 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Random Access Memory Performance<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P0606 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Processor Performance<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P062B \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Fuel Injector Control Performance<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P062F \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Long Term Memory Performance<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P0630 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 VIN Not Programmed or Mismatched &#8211; ECM<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P16F3 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Redundant Memory Performance<\/p>\n<p>DTC\u2009P262B \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Control Module Power Off Timer Performance<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These DTCs are related to internal microprocessor integrity conditions in the ECM as well as incomplete ECM programming.<\/p>\n<p>If any of these DTCs are set, verify that the battery cables are clean and tight and that the battery is fully charged. In addition, check that all ECM power and ground supply circuits do not have an open or high resistance and that there are not any connection or terminal tension issues. Low voltage or a temporary loss of power or ground to the ECM may cause a DTC to set.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TIP:<\/strong> The ECM can withstand normal current draws that are associated with vehicle operations. However, avoid overloading any of these circuits when testing for opens or shorts. Do not ground or apply voltage to any of the ECM circuits unless called out in the appropriate Service Information diagnostic procedures.
