New Program Identifies 9T65 Transmission Replacements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A new replacement program for the 9T65 9-speed automatic transmission (RPO M3V, M3W) (Fig.1) on 2018-2020 Enclave, Traverse; 2019-2020 Blazer; 2020 Acadia, XT5, and XT6 models is being piloted in the U.S. beginning July 1, 2020. The program is designed to reduce the number of days needed to complete vehicle repairs. After diagnosis of an internal fault, technicians are directed to replace the transmission assembly (following the necessary guidelines) instead of making internal repairs to the transmission. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13330\" src=\"https:\/\/techlink.mynetworkcontent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F01-9T65-trans.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F01-9T65-trans.jpg 740w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F01-9T65-trans-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F01-9T65-trans-85x55.jpg 85w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F01-9T65-trans-200x130.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Fig. 1<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The pilot program will run for one year \u2013 from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 \u2013 and applies to vehicles sold in the U.S. with less than 18 months from date of delivery (DOD) and with under 18,000 miles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Transmission assembly orders should be coded as CSO order type and not as stock units. Transmission assemblies replaced during the pilot program will be requested by the Warranty Parts Center for engineering analysis. Refer to Bulletin #99-00-89-019S for the part return process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The repair order for the transmission replacement should include the condition, cause, and correction information as well as details on any DTCs, transmission fluid level, and fluid pressure testing.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>DTCs<\/b> \u2013 include history or current DTCs and the module each DTC was set in. Modules to be searched include the Transmission Control Module (TCM), Engine Control Module (ECM), Body Control Module (BCM), Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), and Transmission Range Control Module (TRCM).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Transmission Fluid Level<\/b> \u2013 include overfill, under fill, and correct level test results using the fluid level set plug. (Fig. 2) If there is a fluid overfill or under fill, estimate how much.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Transmission Fluid Pressure<\/b> \u2013 include test results of actual pressure reading taken.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\">\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13331\" src=\"https:\/\/techlink.mynetworkcontent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F02-trans-fill-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F02-trans-fill-1.png 740w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F02-trans-fill-1-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F02-trans-fill-1-85x55.png 85w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/F02-trans-fill-1-200x130.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Fig. 2<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Transmission Diagnosis Before Replacement<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To determine a repair strategy on a 9T65 transmission \u2013 repair or replacement, first review several previously released bulletins covering 9T65 transmission operating and performance conditions. For a complete list of the bulletins as well as other Service Information documents to review, refer to Bulletin #20-NA-136.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Bulletin #20-NA-136 also outlines the necessary steps to take to diagnose 9T65 transmission concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Check modules for DTCs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Check the transmission fluid and level<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Check line pressure<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Perform a road test<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Check current DTCs or DTCs that reset during the road test<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"western\">\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">If diagnosis determines internal components are the root cause or if parts are needed to complete repairs internal to the transmission, the transmission assembly should be replaced and not repaired.
