The sound may seem to be coming from the windshield area. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">There may be excessive movement in the area (Fig. 23, #2) of the left or right front inner wheel well liner (Fig. 23, #1), resulting in the flutter sound.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13596\" src=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F23-flutter-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F23-flutter-1.png 740w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F23-flutter-1-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F23-flutter-1-85x55.png 85w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F23-flutter-1-200x130.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Fig. 23<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To correct the condition, apply a 1\u201d x 3&#8243; x 1\/4&#8243; piece of foam, or a couple layers of butyl tape, to the inside of the fender. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">It\u2019s necessary to partially remove the front wheel well liner to obtain access to the back\/inboard side of the front fender. The back of the fender should be clean of any dirt, mud, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">On the back\/inboard side of the fender, the foam or layers of butyl tape (Fig. 23, #5) should be applied starting at the fender feature line (Fig. 23, #7) and 10mm from the fender flange. (Fig. 23, #6) The foam\/butyl tape needs to create a cross car interference with the fender liner return flange.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13597\" src=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F24-flutter-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F24-flutter-2.png 740w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F24-flutter-2-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F24-flutter-2-85x55.png 85w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/F24-flutter-2-200x130.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><b>Fig. 24<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">It may be necessary to use a trim stick or similar tool to pull the wheel house liner to the full forward position when reinstalling the wheel well liner.
