The A\/C compressor on these models may have failed due to a combination of low refrigerant and\/or PAG oil.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to replacing the A\/C compressor, confirm that the compressor is seized. Check the housing for signs of cracks and the clutch\/hub for any damage. If it does not rotate freely or the compressor is seized, replace the compressor and complete the oil balancing procedure before checking for any A\/C system leaks<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Checking for Leaks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the hub\/shaft rotates freely and there are not any signs of cracks or damage, inspect the A\/C system for leaks. Possible leaks may be found at the Internal Heat Exchanged (IHX) welds (Fig 10), the condenser \u2013 including the receiver and dehydrator cap \u2013 and the joints and connections.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14141\" src=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/F10-comp-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/F10-comp-3.png 740w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/F10-comp-3-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/F10-comp-3-85x55.png 85w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/F10-comp-3-200x130.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><strong>Fig. 10<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One other possible leak area is the A\/C compressor hose.
