(Fig. 9) The paint chip may be due to the headlamp being positioned too tightly to the body panel. The headlamp lens should have a minimum 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) gap between the lens and the body panel. (Fig. 12) In some cases, the forward mounting hole in the headlamp housing may need to be slightly enlarged to move the headlamp away from the fascia. After positioning the headlamp, hold it in place when reinstalling the bolt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18068\" src=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/F12-Paint-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/F12-Paint-4.png 740w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/F12-Paint-4-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/F12-Paint-4-85x55.png 85w, https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/F12-Paint-4-200x130.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><strong>Fig. 12<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complete a partial paint repair to the affected locations of the front fascia and reinstall the fascia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Headlamp-to-Fender Gap<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there is a tight gap at the headlamp-to-fender area, mark the location of the two cobra bracket bolts on each side of the vehicle and adjust the brackets. Lowering the bracket will create a larger gap between the headlamp lens and the fender.
