{"id":19183,"date":"2024-11-14T15:10:10","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T20:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/?p=19183"},"modified":"2024-11-14T15:10:10","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T20:10:10","slug":"using-multi-factor-authentication-for-techline-connect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/?p=19183","title":{"rendered":"Using Multi-Factor Authentication for Techline Connect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) \u2014 an identity verification process that requires at least two methods of authentication, such as a password and a temporary passcode, to verify a user&#8217;s identity \u2014 is now being rolled out to a number of GM dealerships for logging in to Techline Connect. Additional dealerships will continue to be added, along with other GlobalConnect applications, in the following months.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MFA login procedure is designed to improve the security of the applications. (Fig. 1) If a user is sharing a login ID, contact your dealership\u2019s Partner Security Coordinator to create a unique ID.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19146\" src=\"https:\/\/gm-techlink.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/F01-MFA-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"480\" \/><strong>Fig. 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are three methods of validation using MFA:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Text message to a cell phone.<\/li>\n<li>Phone call to a cell phone.<\/li>\n<li>Installation of the Microsoft Authenticator app on a smartphone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The easiest method to use for dealership personnel may be a text message to a mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To set up MFA using a text message:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>After logging into GlobalConnect and selecting the TLC launch link, the authentication options will be shown. Click Next, and then click \u201cI want to set up a different method\u201d at the bottom of the screen to use the text-to-phone option. (Fig. 2)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using a phone number will allow a user to validate through a text message or a phone call. A one-time validation is needed for either option. Select \u201cText\u201d and enter the code from the text message.
