Tracking serial numbers helps link returned components to the associated vehicle and supports product quality reviews and warranty analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Global Warranty Management (GWM) will identify when recording serial numbers is required during replacement of the following components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engine<\/li>\n<li>Transmission<\/li>\n<li>Torque converter<\/li>\n<li>Valve body<\/li>\n<li>High-voltage battery pack (RESS)<\/li>\n<li>Primary drive unit<\/li>\n<li>Secondary drive unit<\/li>\n<li>Airbag steering wheel module<\/li>\n<li>Steering wheel airbag<\/li>\n<li>Airbag instrument panel module<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Serial Number Tracking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the repair, technicians should locate the serial number on the defective component being removed from the vehicle and record it on the job card (repair order). The serial number location will vary by component. It\u2019s critical that the serial number be recorded before installation.<\/p>\n<p>During claim submission using certain labor operations, the warranty administrator must enter the removed component serial number in the Removed Serial Number field in GWM.
