Inoperative IntelliBeam Auto High-Beam Headlamps

The functionality of the IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlamps may be inoperative on some 2024-2025 Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks. (Fig. 17) The side blind zone and side object detection systems also may not be working properly.

The IntelliBeam system uses the Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) sensors, if equipped, to dim the headlamps when traffic is approaching from the rear of the vehicle. Not all Side Blind Zone Alert conditions will cause a service message to be displayed in the Driver Information Center. These conditions may appear on trucks that have had the bed removed for a service body since there is not a place to mount the Side Blind Zone Alert sensors.

The IntelliBeam system will turn off the high-beam headlamps when approaching vehicle headlamps or preceding vehicle taillights are detected by the front camera module. On vehicles equipped with Side Blind Zone Alert, IntelliBeam will proactively turn off the high-beam headlamps when a vehicle is passing on the left or right side. Vehicle speed must be more than 25 mph (40 km/h).

TIP: Activate the IntelliBeam system by pressing the button on the end of the turn signal lever with the engine running. (Fig. 18) The IntellBeam system will be disabled if the fog lamps are turned on or the headlamp switch is not in the Auto or On position.

Before making any repairs to the IntelliBeam system or headlamps, check for DTCs or any communication issues with the Side Blind Zone Alert module. Correct any Side Blind Zone Alert conditions and then recheck for proper operation of the IntelliBeam system.
