Transmission Out-of-Round Snap Rings

A slipping Drive or no Drive condition may be present along with DTCs P0746 (Transmission Control Solenoid Valve 1 Stuck Off) or P0747 (Transmission Control Solenoid Valve 1 Stuck On) on some 2024 Encore GX, Enclave, XT4, XT5, XT6, Blazer, Trailblazer, Traverse, Traverse Limited, Acadia and Terrain models equipped with a GF8 8T65 or GF9 9T45/50/60/65 automatic transmission (RPO M3F, M3W, M3H, M3G, M3T, M3V, MF8, M3U).

The Drive conditions may be caused by an out-of-round snap ring, including the 1-2-3-4-5-6 Clutch Spring Retaining Ring (Fig. 8, #594) or 1-2-3-4-5-6 Clutch Backing Plate Retaining Ring. (Fig. 8, #599)

If these conditions are found, check the transmission Julian build date and refer to #PIP5974B. (Fig. 9) If the transmission matches the build dates and DTC P0746 or P0747 resets on a short test drive, or the transmission slips in Drive, the transmission should be disassembled and inspected for damage.
