The North American Charging Standard (NACS) DC adapters (Tesla Supercharger adapters) (Fig. 11) that are available from GM are for use on public DC Fast Charging stations only.
Fig. 11
Designed for charging GM EVs equipped with a native CCS1 charge port and the DC Fast Charging option, including 2017-2023 Bolt EV; 2022-2023 Bolt EUV; 2022-2025 HUMMER EV models; 2023-2025 LYRIQ; 2023-2025 BrightDrop models; 2024-2025 Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Silverado EV, Sierra EV; 2025 ESCALADE IQ, OPTIQ and VISTIQ models, the NACS DC adapters offer the ability to charge on a public NACS DC Fast Charging station, such as a Tesla Supercharger. The NACS charging adapters are not to be used on Level 1 or Level 2 AC home chargers and other non-NACS chargers.
If the vehicle is plugged into a Level 1 or Level 2 AC charger using a NACS DC adapter, the vehicle will not charge and the following DTCs may set: P2E85 (Battery Charger Input Voltage Sensor Circuit Low Voltage), P0F71 (Battery Charger 2 Input Voltage Sensor 4 Circuit Low), P0D3F (Battery Charger Input Voltage Sensor Circuit Low Voltage), and, on Bolt EV and EUV only, P1EE6 (Battery Charger AC Voltage Not Present).
NACS DC Adapter
The NACS charging standard uses the same pins on the charger side for AC charging and DC charging. The CCS1 charging port on GM EVs has separate pins for AC charging and DC charging. (Fig. 12)
Fig. 12
The NACS DC adapter routes the multi-use NACS pins to the DC pins on the vehicle’s charging port. The adapter does not have the pins to support AC charging. (Fig. 13) However, GM-approved NACS DC adapters —part numbers 85090442, 85836744 and 85778137 — will plug into Level 1 and Level 2 chargers as well as Level 3 DC Fast Charging stations, but only function on approved DC Fast Charging stations (Tesla Superchargers or NACS Fast Charging stations).

GM does not currently offer a Level 1 or Level 2 NACS adapter. For questions on available NACS chargers and warranty information, refer to Bulletin #24-NA-202.
The NACS DC adapter can be purchased through the GM vehicle mobile app (myChevrolet, myCadillac and myGMC apps) via the accessories e-commerce experience.
Customers are advised to contact EV Concierge (1-833-64POWER) for assistance on adapter usage and charging questions and to use their vehicle mobile app to find a charger compatible with their GM EV. (Fig. 14)
Note: The mobile app is available on select Apple and Android devices. Service availability, features and functionality vary by vehicle, device, and the plan enrolled in.
