The application process of the spray-on bedliner (RPO CGN) available on Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500HD/3500HD, Sierra 1500 and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks has been updated during 2026 model year production. The result is a slight difference in appearance along with substantial environmental savings during manufacturing. (Fig.1)

Fig. 2
Before the process change, a tape-and-wire method was used to mask the edge of the spray-on bedliner near the cargo box opening. This method provided a hard, definite edge to the bedliner at the tailgate opening. (Fig. 2)

Fig. 2
The rolling change across all GM assembly plants that has been implemented features a new masking system that updates the look of the bedliner edge. The application change eliminates about 2.5 million pounds of waste going into a landfill annually from each assembly plant.
The new masking system, which is common in the industry, results in a different appearance of the bedliner edge. It now has an even faded appearance rather than a hard line. (Fig. 3)

Fig. 3
The difference in appearance of the bedliner is expected with the new application process and no repairs are needed. The durability of the bedliner is not affected by the new process.
