Mismatched Replacement DEF Tank Harness Connector

Prior to replacing the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank on some 2020-2021 Silverado and Sierra models and 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD and Sierra 1500 Limited models, equipped with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine (RPO LM2), check the replacement tank harness connector X143. (Fig. 9) Some replacement tanks may have been assembled with the incorrect harness and the harness connector may not fit the body harness connector.

Fig. 9

If the tank harness is a gray color, instead of black, the tank was assembled with the incorrect harness and it will not match the body harness connector. Shown below is the tag from an incorrect harness. (Fig. 10)

Fig. 10

There is not a difference in pin location between the original harness and the correct new tank harness. If the original harness is damaged, it will be necessary to order a replacement harness.
