Servicing High-Voltage Batteries Before Replacement

The high-voltage (HV) battery in 2022-2025 HUMMER EV; 2023-2025 BrightDrop, LYRIQ; 2024-2025 Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Silverado EV and Sierra EV models requires updated Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) calibrations prior to replacement. The HV battery is equipped with updated sensors that require new calibrations for proper functionality. If the BECM calibrations are not updated prior to replacing the HV battery, it may trigger false TRP alarms.

The BECM controls and monitors HV battery pack operation and is the host controller for all battery diagnostics and system status. (Fig. 18)

Before replacing the HV battery, verify that the vehicle has the latest BECM calibration. If the BECM is not up to date with the latest SPS calibration, program the K16 BECM with the most recent update using SPS.

Be sure to confirm the vehicle has successfully received the latest BECM calibration before proceeding with HV battery repairs.
