Checking the Air Conditioning Condenser Line Seal Washers

If the air conditioning is not working or blows warm air on a 2024-2025 GM model, it may be due to a leaking condenser seal. The seal washers between the condenser lines and the condenser should be checked when these conditions are present. (Fig. 13)

After a leak is detected using refrigerant dye or a refrigerant sniffer, it’s recommended to replace the condenser line seal washers at the refrigerant block fitting line-to- condenser block prior to swapping out the condenser. Be sure to torque the air conditioning compressor and compressor hose nut to specification.

Refer to the appropriate Service Information for the correct service procedure and torque specification based on the vehicle being serviced.

New air conditioning sealing washers should never be exposed to any type of oil or lubricant because the rubber material may absorb the oil, leading to possible failure.

Before installing the new sealing washer, use a clean, dry lint-free cloth to clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant components.

The sealing washer must completely bottom against the surface of the fitting. (Fig. 14)
