The GDS2 core update 22.8.00900 in Techline Connect that was recently released on March 10 included various bug fixes. The update will download and install automatically upon logging into Techline Connect with the proper administrative rights. (Fig. 1)
Technicians must install this GDS2 core update with administrative rights by March 16 in order to use future diagnostic packages.
TIP: If GDS2 is not updated, it will not be able to be used with any new deliverable starting March 17 and technicians may encounter issues that prevent GDS2 from being used entirely.

When updating from one core version to the next, many firewalls/antivirus programs will recognize it as a new application. It may be necessary to engage your dealership’s local IT support to ensure Techline Connect is entered as an exception in these programs to allow normal functionality. As a user, technicians also need full local administrative rights to install the update.
If there are any questions about the GDS core update, contact the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) at 1-800-828-6860.

This message was intended as a heads up for users who require their dealership’s IT support in order to install updates. If a user did not have administrative rights and the GDS2 core update failed, and then the user tried to install the new GDS2 deliverable on March 17, there may have been issues. GM has had feedback from users that they would like as much advanced notice as possible regarding updates. This was an effort to accommodate that feedback.
Technicians must install this GDS2 core update with administrative rights by March 16 in order to use future diagnostic packages? What if I’m not around at this time. Then to top it off I need to Email Techline support
Then add VIN ? What VIN I’m not working on a vehicle. This is the Definition of insanity.
Oh stop saying call, You need to Email.
