The left or right rear upper body auxiliary lamp (Fig. 11) may not illuminate on some 2025-2026 ESCALADE IQ and ESCALADE IQL models. The upper body auxiliary lamp connector may not be fully connected, causing the lamp to not turn on.
Fig. 11
If a soft connection or disconnected upper body lamp connector is found, the vehicle must go through a sleep cycle before the lamp will illuminate when reconnected. The upper lamp will not illuminate immediately when reconnected because the module within each lower tail lamp controls the upper lamp directly above it.
If serial data communication between the E42 Rear Body Structure Stop Lamp and E42A Rear Body Structure Auxiliary Signal Lamp is lost and the fault is resolved, the E42A Rear Body Structure Auxiliary Signal Lamp may not operate until communication is reestablished through a power cycle.
After fully securing the connector behind the upper trim panel inside the vehicle (Fig. 12), perform a sleep cycle by turning off the vehicle, closing all doors, turning off all vehicle systems and moving all keys at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the vehicle. Wait 10 minutes for the vehicle to sleep before powering up the vehicle again.

After the sleep cycle, place the vehicle in Propulsion Ready mode and recheck the operation of the upper lamp. The lamp should illuminate.
If the lamp fails to illuminate, refer to the appropriate Service Information to continue diagnostics.
