When updating the Active Fuel Injector Tester (AFIT) (CH-47976) software, some users may receive a notice about the AFIT USB cable (CH-47976-3) that is used to connect the Main Control Unit (MCU) to a computer. (Fig. 9) The original USB cable included in the AFIT kit is not compatible with computer systems running Windows 10.

A new cable adapter, CH-47976-3A, is now available on the GM Special Tools website at gmtoolsandequipment.com. The adapter enables software updates to be made to the MCU as well as allows AFIT vehicle fuel system test results to be transferred to a computer for graphical analysis and printing.
The first AFIT software update that was approved for use with Windows 10 was released in early 2017. The notice regarding the USB cable has been included with subsequent software updates since the first Windows 10-approved software update.

The USB cable vendor may have changed, which may alter the actual appearance of the cable, but the USB chip used and drivers are the same if the cable was ordered from GM Tools and Equipment. Usually, just by plugging it in, Windows goes out to the internet and locates and installs the drivers. There have been a few issues with some dealerships being IT restricted where Windows is blocked from searching. Please contact 1-800-GM-TOOLS for support.
We ordered this cable, it looks nothing like the one in the picture, Windows can not find a driver for it, none of the drivers I have found for it work. Still can not update AFIT after 2 years on Win10. What/where is the correct driver for this cable?
